To build a link between the mainland and island for seasonal bird watching. Capable of coping with changing water levels and the ability to remove it during winter months, to restrict access to nesting birds.
A hinged bridge with pontoon middle structure. Designed with brackets that could be easily undone to allow the structure to be moved out to deeper water and moored during closed periods, as per the brief.
The main challenge for this project was access to the site. Being ¼ mile from the main road and typically a low-lying, wet marsh ground made it particularly challenging to get materials to the site.
