To replace an existing fixed landing stage with a floating pontoon on a river which regularly floods.
A floating pontoon was designed and built using an aluminium frame set over rotation moulded plastic floats, decked and clad in composite and completed with riverside fendering and aluminium mooring poles. The new pontoon also had a hinged access ramp to allow access at all water levels throughout the season.
One of the main challenges with this project was the designing of a structure which would cope with the varying seasonal water levels. On the day of the installation, the build was certainly put to the test as the river was already in flood which made the removal of the existing structure rather tricky as it was underwater.
