Brief

Our client was undertaking a project to renovate a new property which included the development of some existing ponds into wild swimming areas.   Two jetties were needed to enable safe and easy access to the water.

Solution

We created two aluminium framed jetties, both with aluminium swim ladders, decked and clad with Millboard composite decking.  Pond one’s jetty was t-shaped and attached to an existing pathway, giving access to the deepest part of the pond for swimming all year round.  Pond two’s jetty was created with a very low freeboard, positioned in front of the shepherds hut and designed to incorporate the existing oak tree at the edge of the pond, providing a large seating area.

Challenges

Due to the renovations taking place at the client’s property, we had a fairly blank canvas to work with on this project which can feel more of a challenge than having established surroundings to blend with.  However, our client had a clear vision that we were able to work towards and this enabled us to come up with a design to meet the idea in mind.  The other challenge on this project was fitting the jetty, on the second pond, to the edge of the water whilst incorporating the beautiful old oak tree.  Fortunately we love a challenge here at RA Marine and everyone was very happy with the results.
