Brief

Our client approached RA Marine Ltd with a request to replace an old jetty on their picturesque lake, located at their farm. The jetty serves as a charming spot for accessing a rowing boat, relaxing by the water, and enjoying the tranquil view—perhaps with a refreshing G&T in hand. They wanted a replacement that would not only be functional but also complement the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Solution

We custom-designed a new jetty that perfectly aligned with the client’s vision, both in terms of materials and aesthetics. The foundation of the jetty is built with a durable aluminium frame, enhanced by powder-coated legs, giving it a sleek and polished appearance that blends seamlessly into the lakeside setting. For the decking and cladding, the client selected Iroko timber, a high-quality wood that is both durable and beautifully suited to the environment, offering a natural yet elegant finish.

The jetty was crafted with versatility in mind. Its T-shaped or hammerhead design provides ample space for various activities. In addition to its primary function—accessing a rowing boat—it also features an underwater ladder, opening up opportunities for wild swimming. The thoughtful design ensures the jetty can be used for more than just rowing; it’s future-proofed to accommodate kayaks, paddle boards, and canoes, making it a multi-use space for water-based activities.

Challenges

While removing an old jetty is typically a straightforward process for our team, this particular project came with a few unexpected hurdles.
